This week's list is of the 11 craziest, most shocking unfinished areas and cut levels found hiding inside of your favorite games. Know something I didn't cover? I recommend playing at least one of these versions of Abe's Oddysee before watching if possible. Here are the posts referenced near the start and end of the video. You should read these after watching. Paul O'Connor talks about the visual design of Oddworld: https://web.archive.org/web/19990221091824/http://www.videogames.com/features/universal/abe_dd/110298/index.html Matt Glanville's post about the motion detectors: http://crowbarska.tumblr.com/post/85139079903/game-design-blog-motion-sensors-in-new-n
My first attempt on 100% speedrun on Abe's Exoddus. It's currently with the verifiers at SDA. Update: the run got accepted and the total time is 2:38:50! Update 2: Dooty and I are working on a TAS on the PSX version. Once that's done I'l be working on an improvement on the PC version.
This is a segmented 100% speedrun of Abe's Oddysee done in 1:15:55. There was a lot of glitch abuse in this run and it is the first ever 100% speedrun to be published on SDA. It is a world record. I have seen the 1 hour and 9 minutes Tool Assisted Speedrun but this was done without using any emulators and tools. This was a pure speedrun. It was done on the PC version using just the controls, the save system and Camtasia Studio 8 to record the run. The PC version is unable to perform the glitch where you can hide behind the screen and the sligs keep shooting you.
You can read what the verifiers had to say about this run and the any% run that I did along with this run. I did send off a PS1 run back in May this year and you can read what they had to say at this forum:
You can view SDA run comments here:
Update: I will be updating the PC version one day 100% and I'll be using some ideas that Dooty used in his PSX TAS.
