The seax was a weapon common during Anglo-Saxon times but was also in use during the early Viking-age. While mostly a simple weapon produced locally by many blacksmiths, more elaborate pattern-welded seaxes have been found as well. In this series, I will be forging a Viking pattern-welded broad seax and show all the steps from preparing the material, to drawing out the bevel on the anvil to heat treating and polishing it. In Episode 5, I have started over again and will draw out the edge billet, forge weld the sword together and then reestablish the tip. I will also stress test my welds and do as much as I can to overdetermine success. More on this amazing remake soon - much more! But for now, here's a look at Shadow of the Colossus running its 4K output mode (1440p native with impressive TAA) with HDR engaged, via review code supplied by Sony. HDR playback requires an HDR screen along with YouTube app support. HDR-capable Roku devices should do the trick, selected Samsung screens along with smartphones like the Galaxy S8, S8+, Note 8, LG V30 and Sony XZ Platinum also support HDR. Non-HDR screens get a standard SDR picture. Alternatively, support the Digital Foundry and get the full source file, bung it on a USB stick, and run it on your HDR display: https://www.digitalfoundry.net/2018-01-27-4k-hdr-shadow-of-the-colossus-ps4-remake
