Kindergarteners of the school created their beautiful houses under their on-going IPC theme ‘Houses and Natural Environment’. They created houses of different designs using the same basic bricks. They experienced the trial and error of putting bricks together in order to construct a specific shape of house and learnt how to work through a problem to get the bricks fixed. The #children were so excited for the houses they built for the mini figure families to play in their LEGO community. This open-ended play with Lego bricks allowed children to explore and pretend, which in turn advanced their cognitive and social skills.

Play is an integral part of learning in Early Years. Keeping this in mind, a Happy Feet Program has been introduced at the school for the children of age group 2-5 years. The main focus of this program is on the acquisition of physical literacy and development of gross motor skills. A colorful and attractive play zone area has been created in the corridor where the children can come and happily engross themselves in various activities which will help in enhancing their balancing, focusing, fine motor, and literacy and numeric skills. The children of early years were given the exposure to this activity and this experience outside the classroom, with plenty of opportunities for free and structured play was extremely fascinating for the little ones which provided them with a happy and stimulating environment.

Learning by doing is the best way to learn anything. Under the theme ‘All about me, My Family and My community’ an activity ‘Making outline of body’ using blocks and beads was planned for the students of KG to develop students’ interpersonal and intrapersonal skills wherein students were divided in groups of four to five. Students enjoyed singing the rhyme ‘Head Shoulder knees and toes’ while doing this activity and developed team building skills.
